Quality Checks for Traffic Video Data

Review checkpoints that make a video-derived dataset easier to trust and use.

By SWAT Alliance Editorial Team · Published 25 August 2026

Short answer

Quality checks compare delivered traffic data to the approved scope, source coverage and data dictionary at defined points in the workflow.

Before the project starts

  • Keep the approved scope and movement matrix versioned.
  • Record source coverage and exceptions.
  • Define who reviews totals, classes and final formatting.

Practical approach

Check interval continuity, movement logic, directional totals, class consistency, formulas and output labels. Reconcile exceptions with the source notes.

Checks and limitations

Use intermediate reviews for definitions and coverage, then complete a final release review before delivery.

QA/QC catches discrepancies; it does not turn unsuitable footage into suitable evidence.
